🔹 Summary by Religious Affiliation
- Roman Catholic (or raised Catholic): 6
- Roberts, Thomas, Alito, Sotomayor, Kavanaugh, Barrett
(Gorsuch raised Catholic, now Episcopalian) - Jewish: 1
- Kagan
- Protestant (non-denominational): 1
- Jackson
- Episcopalian (from Catholic background): 1
- Gorsuch
🔹 Regarding “Zionist” Label
The term “Zionist” is ideological, not religious. It refers to political support for the state of Israel. It’s not accurate to equate being Jewish or Catholic with being Zionist.
That said:
- Only one current Justice (Kagan) is Jewish.
- Several Justices (Catholic or otherwise) have ruled in ways favorable to Israel, but none publicly identify as Zionist ideologues.
- Religious identity ≠ political stance.
✅ Conclusion
Only one Justice is Jewish. Most Justices are Catholic, and religious affiliation does not automatically imply Zionist ideology.
